Dear Empowering Industry Participant
It has been a while since we had our first round of meetings to introduce people around Australia to the 'Empowering Industry' concept. Based on these meetings, over 250 project ideas were developed by people involved in the fishing and seafood industry.
As you know, the scope of Empowering Industry is intentionally broader than the typical ‘fisheries research’ and is designed to capture ideas from across the supply chain in the commercial and aquaculture sectors, as well as ideas from the indigenous and recreational sectors. As a result, our projects span a huge range of research, development and extension (RD&E) topics.
The next stage of the project is now set to get underway. Over the last 6 months, the Empowering Industry website (www.empoweringindustry.com) has been developed to facilitate the partnering of your ideas with suitable research providers and funding sources. The project ideas that were identified at our industry meetings with you have already been entered onto the website.
We are now in the process of contacting over 500 private and public sector research providers to let them know about your ideas. Those research providers that have areas of expertise that match your needs can contact you directly and explore project partnership opportunities.
But you don’t have to just sit back and wait for them to make the first contact - you can search on the website for people that have the expertise you need and contact them directly. Not only that, we also have a section where you can search for state and federal funding opportunities that may support your project ideas.
We have worked hard to set up Empowering Industry so that it can promote industry-driven RD&E in the fishing and seafood industry – please now take a few minutes to sign up to the website so that it can begin to work hard for you.
