FRDC Governance Scholarship for Women

An annual governance scholarship is awarded by the FRDC to a female member of the Australian fishing industry.  The Scholarship provides a unique opportunity for an emerging, or new, industry leader to undertake the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Company Directors' Course. The Scholarship winner will demonstrate that the outcomes of the course will have a direct impact on their effectiveness in an industry role.

The Company Directors Course (CDC) is recognised as the definitive program for company directors in Australia. For more information about the AICD and the course visit the Company Directors Course website.

The Scholarship is valued at up to $15,000 and may include course registration fees, economy travel and accommodation to attend course and directly related child care costs. The amount of the scholarship will depend on distance to travel and mode of study. The scholarship remains valid for a period of twelve months.

The winner can choose to study in a variety of ways:

  • 6 consecutive days, including a weekend, in a residential format
  • a non-residential format over 5 working days
  • evening or weekend tutorial classes
  • correspondence program

Applications for the 2010 FRDC Governance Scholarship for Women opened on 15 February 2010 and will close on 30 April 2010. A selection panel will select the winner based on the information provided in the application.  All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of May 2010.
